Firstly, woo!
I'm pleased to announce that I will soon be joining Google as a Developer Programs Engineer on the Chrome team.
So what does that mean?
Well in general it means I will be continuing to do all that I can to help push the web forward. I will be writing tutorials and articles about new APIs and features, doing talks and presentations and, in general terms, helping developers build better applications.
All change!
For the past eight years I've worked as a developer in a number of agencies, most recently at Huge, so this will be quite the change for me as I'll be working with a product rather than an ever-changing array of clients. I'm really looking forward to it, and I'm so excited that I'll get to be a part of an amazing, world-class team.
Over the years I've come to realise that I love both helping other developers and working with the latest & greatest technologies. Being given the opportunity to do both on a daily basis is a massive privilege and to do it at Google is phenomenal. So exciting!
It's been quite the journey getting to this point, so it'd be remiss of me not to thank my friends and family, and in particular my ever-supportive (and long-suffering) wife, Heather, for cheering me on all the way through. I would list everyone but frankly it just got a bit Oscar acceptance speechy in here!
I'm so looking forward to the next chapter. High fives all round? I think so! _o/\o_
